While some emo bands split up ages ago and never got back together, My Chemical Romance had a much-anticipated comeback in 2023. Fans still love their music and were glad to hear some good news about the band.

The music industry is full of ups and downs, and My Chemical Romance hasn't always had the smoothest time. From hurting themselves during a video shoot to the fact that they have had three drummers, the band has been through a lot. While Bob Bryar became My Chemical Romance's drummer in 2004, he only stayed for a few years, and it sounds like there was some bad blood between him and Frank Iero, Mikey Way, Gerard Way, and Ray Toro. Here's what Bob Bryar has been doing since he and the other band members fought and he left.

Why Happened Between My Chemical Romance Drummer Bob Bryar And The Other Band Members?

Whether band members are best friends or not, it's still a shame when a member leaves. Musicians bond so much while spending hours in the recording studio and traveling during tours. It can be really challenging when the band doesn't get along anymore and someone has to leave.

Bob Bryar left My Chemical Romance in 2010, and it sounds like it was a tough situation. According to MTV, while the band members didn't talk about specific details, several sources reported that there was a fight.

Frank Iero let fans know what was going on. He shared on the website, "as a band, we have been very fortunate over the years that our sweet times have greatly outweighed the sour ones, and a great deal of that is owed to you, the fans. Which is why we wanted this news to come from us and not some bullsh-- gossip site. As of 4 weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar parted ways."

Iero added, "This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and expect you all to do the same."

Bob Bryar isn't the first drummer who left My Chemical Romance. In fact, the band has had four drummers now. According to Entertainment Weekly, Matt Pelissier was the first drummer, and then Bob Bryar came on the scene. After that, Michael Pedicone was hired.

Frank Iero wrote on the My Chemical Romance website in September 2011 and said that Pedicone was out of the band.

Iero said, "The relationship between My Chemical Romance and Michael Pedicone is over. He was caught red handed stealing from the band and confessed to police after our show last night in Auburn, Washington. We are heartbroken and sick to our stomachs over this entire situation. The band has no intention of pressing charges or taking this matter any further than we have to. We just want him out of our lives."

What Is My Chemical Romance's Bob Bryar Doing Now?

Since leaving My Chemical Romance, Bob Bryar seems to have switched careers. A fan wrote about Bob Bryar in the My Chemical Romance SubReddit. Redditor @ScaredOfClocks wrote that people have mentioned Bryar going into real estate.

The fan wrote, "With all the news about the reunion for the band and their big come back. What ever happened to Bob? I know he didn't part ways exactly on good terms with the rest of the guys (Gerard & Mikey at least) And that soon after it was said he became a real estate agent, but there was also big speculation in 2017 or so that he was going to make a return to music. And nothing ever happened with that."

According to NME.com, the former My Chemical Romance drummer focuses on helping animals. He doesn't perform anymore and sells real estate.

Bryar is definitely more private now, though. He doesn't seem to use Instagram, and there's no doubt that many fans are curious about what he has been doing.

NME.com reported that in October 2022, he wanted someone to buy the outfit that he often wore while he was part of My Chemical Romance. He hoped to raise cash because Hurricane Ian was making life difficult for pets in South Carolina and Florida.

When Bryar put the outfit on eBay, he wrote, “it’s just sitting in a box doing nothing and people need help with money right now."

It seems that the former My Chemical Romance drummer can still look back fondly on what he experienced as part of the band. When Bob Bryar talked about the album "The Black Parade" in an interview with Alternative Press, he shared some fun details about performances and recordings.

When asked about putting on "The Black Parade" since he left the band, Bryar said that he couldn't do that. He explained that he was still emotional about the fact that he left the band. He didn't mention why he left the band, and it doesn't seem that he has ever explained that.

Bryar told Alternative Press, "To be very honest with you, no, I have not listened to the record in a very long time. I am very proud of it, but the memories that come along with listening to it are too much for me. I wish it wasn’t like that, but it is. You won’t find one My Chem item in my house. Not one. I don’t need to be bummed out everyday by hearing or seeing things relating to something that I thought would last forever."

From previous interviews that he gave, it's clear that Bob Bryar loved being in My Chemical Romance. In 2007, he spoke to Modern Drummer and said that being in the band was a positive experience.

He explained, “I was kind of depressed because I wasn’t doing what I wanted to do. I was watching other drummers live out their dreams and play drums every night. Meanwhile, I was the guy behind the board making their drums sound good. So when I got into My Chemical Romance…it sounds kind of cheesy, but it gave me a sense of hope, something to look forward to, and I started to take care of myself.”
